Dr. Naomi Falk joined the retina division at Albany Medical Center at the rank of Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in 2003 after completing a vitreoretinal fellowship at the University of Texas, Houston and Albany Medical Center. She completed her residency at Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia, where she was elected Chief Resident in her final year, after completing an internship in internal medicine at Winthrop University Hospital in June of 1998. She eared her M.D. from SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York.

Before beginning her career in ophthalmology, Dr. Falk was an Assistant Professor of Optometry at SUNY College of Optometry. She also held an appointment as a Clinical Instructor at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Northport, New York. During her optometric career, Dr. Falk gained extensive experience in caring for the low-vision patients, as well as in the care of brain injured patients. She also carried out studies on treatments in ocular trauma.

While bein an investigator on numerous national multi-center studies, Dr. Falk's clinical research interests include new and experimental protocols for the treatment of macular degeneration, venous occlusion and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Falk and the Retina Consultants have brought to Albany the first anti-VEGF therapies for wet macular degeneration with both Lucentis (RhuFab), Macugen (Pegaptanib) and other Phase I investigational drugs, the first bioerodable Posurdex dexamethasone implant for Central Retinal Vein Occlusions, and a Phase III injectable Triamcinolone Acetonide for Diabetic Macular Edema. Dr. Falk is an investigator for four research protocols for the National Eye Institute sponsored Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network. She has performed original research in the treatment of endopthalmitis and choroidal neovascularization. In addition to her busy clinical schedule, she assumes an active role in resident teaching and lectures.
